The 2015 Microsoft Dynamics GP year-end release is expected to arrive next week. After you have installed it and upgraded your DYNAMICS and Company databases, you’ll need to upgrade any modified forms or reports .dic files as well. Here’s a brief overview of how to do it.
Prior to the upgrade, back up the forms dictionary (Forms.dic) and the reports dictionary (Reports.dic). Microsoft recommends making copies of the .dic files as well as exporting modified forms and reports to a package file at Microsoft Dynamics GP > Tools > Customize > Customization Maintenance.
Open your Microsoft Dynamics GP launch file (Dynamics.set) and verify that the paths of the modified forms and reports are correct. The paths must be the location of the forms dictionary and reports dictionary from the previous release. Launch Microsoft Dynamics GP Utilities and click Next, opening the Additional Tasks window. Select Update Modified Forms and Reports, then click Process, opening the Locate Launch File window.
Select the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 or 2015 (depending on your version) launch file (Dynamics.set) that you use to start Microsoft Dynamics GP on this client, then click Next, opening the Update Modified Forms and Reports window. Select Microsoft Dynamics GP and any additional components whose modified forms and reports dictionaries you are upgrading. For each component, select the Details button, if necessary, to open the Product Details window, where you can select the location of the original dictionary from the previous release, such as Dynamics.dic or HR.dic. After you have done so, click OK.
In the Update Modified Forms and Reports window, click Update. Your modified forms and reports are upgraded!
