One of the benefits of upgrading to Microsoft Dynamics GP is how quickly it can be deployed, and that rapid implementation is thanks to RapidStart Services for Microsoft Dynamics GP. RapidStart Services is a pair of tools, one for configuration and one for migration, that have transformed deployment so that setup that used to take days now takes mere minutes to complete.
Microsoft Partners use RapidStart Services to rapidly deploy Microsoft Dynamics GP, but the tool is available free for anyone to download and use. So if your organization has someone on staff with some technical expertise, who can do at least a basic implementation of Microsoft Dynamics GP, the tools are there for you. However, RapidStart Services is more than just great a great pair of tools for data migration.
The configuration tool can be very handy aside from its use in preparing for data migration from Quickbooks or Peachtree into Microsoft Dynamics GP. Documenting the configuration of a system couldn’t be easier. Open RapidStart and choose Create New Project from Existing Dynamics GP Implementation. You can also apply a standard configuration to all of your projects as a starting point, or do so for certain projects by industry or size. For this, choose Import Project or Create > New Project from Industry Standard Template.
If you have to regularly set up new companies, you can copy their configuration without knowing SQL. And the tool can also give you basic configuration settings you can complete in Excel. Choose Create New Empty Project, and the spreadsheets will be generated at the location you select.
