Continuing the new era of a major release every six months, Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 is slated for a December 1st release. Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 R2 was released earlier this year. Business Analyzer for both iPad and Android was released in September. The next two releases of Microsoft Dynamics GP, due next year, are planned to be named Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 R1 and Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 R2.
At the Microsoft Dynamics GP User Group (GPUG) Summit last month, Microsoft Dynamics GP product marketing manager Errol Schoenfish talked about the new service-based architecture behind the next release of Microsoft Dynamics GP. He said, “We’re committed to providing GP as a set of services, which allows us to do Business Analyzer, as well as other apps we’ll be doing in the future. It allows us to consume that information across any device, across multiple applications. And at the same time it allows you, our customers, to decide what kind of deployment method you want to do, whether that method is in the cloud or whether you want that deployment method to be on premise.”
Schoenfish and Microsoft Dynamics GP product development manager Jeff Trosen delivered a joint presentation at GPUG that covered many of the new features coming in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015. They said that the six-month release schedule will enable Microsoft to more quickly deliver high-demand features.
Trosen said, “It’s important that you can consume features easily. We want to make sure they’re very much like a service pack. We’re careful about how we add things to the database, how we add new features. It should be a weekend update for you, not a major upgrade. But it really helps to get more value out of GP over time without being hit with a major upgrade event every two and a half years.”
