Microsoft currently has two phone apps available:
- Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Phones Express
- Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Phones
The second one, Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Phones, is the newer version of the app, and going forward, Microsoft will only be providing support for that one. So if you install or upgrade to a new version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Phones, without the “Express” bit added on, is the mobile app you want. Unless you want a mobile app for tablets, but of course, then what you want is Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Tablets.
Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Phones and Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Tablets have a similar look and feel. Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Phones provides you with the following:
- Offline capabilities
- Business rules and business logic
- Full forms instead of mobile forms
- Quick create experiences
- And much more.
Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Phones Express will still be in the app marketplace, and it will continue to work with older versions of Microsoft Dynamics CRM, but Microsoft will no longer provide support in newer phone OS versions or functionality enhancements for Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Phones Express. And Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Phones Express will not work with the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online 2016 update (version 8.0) or later releases.
Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Phones was reworked so that you could “configure once, deploy everywhere.” Design your information architecture once, and the customizations will automatically flow to all form factors. And the same can be said for Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Tablets.
